Rules and Regulations of the 47th Gatineau International Kiwanis Tournament

Hudson Travel Group Conference AAA

Rules

  1. Composed of 7 groups of 4 teams. Division Papier Scott (Group Kruger, Purex and Designer), Division Kruger (Group Embassy, Scotties, Fell Fresh and Purex Supreme).
  2. Each team will play 3 games in the qualifying round; one game against each team of their group.
  3. Duration of games

    1. Qualifying round: 1st and 2nd period of 15 minutes stop-time and 3rd period of 20 minutes stop-time (no overtime);
    2. Eight, quarter, semi and final rounds: 1st period of 15 minutes stop-time and 2nd and 3rd period of 20 minutes stop-time. Should the score be tied after the first three periods, there will be overtime (10 minutes stop-time period) until the first goal is scored. There will be a three (3) minutes break (unless the ice is resurfaced as per rule number 6) between the third period and first overtime period and the teams do not return to their dressing rooms;
    3. At any point in the third period if a team leads by 7 goals or more the time will be running even if the lead is reduced to less than 7 goals, we will continue with running time (penalties remain at stop-time). This applies to all games (qualifying and elimination rounds);
    4. Each team will be allowed one thirty second time out per game (regulation or overtime)
  4. Entry to playoff rounds :

    1. Team finishing first or second within each group;
    2. A standing is created with the teams finishing first and another one with the teams finishing second in each division.
  5. Tie breaker for the qualifying round (within a group) and for the standing of the six first place teams and the six second place teams.

    If a tie occurs between a number of teams, all teams involved in the tie are subject to the following criteria until such time as the team to be placed first among tied teams is not determine:

    Once the position of the first team has been determined in the standings, the procedure must be repeated from Step A to determine further tie situations.

    1. The most wins;
    2. The least losses;
    3. The results of game(s) between the team involved. (Applies only to teams having played each other within the same section);
    4. The best differential: total goals FOR less total goals AGAINST, using all games played. (Should a team not appear for a game, the number of goals FOR and goals AGAINST in games played by other teams against such absent team shall not be included in the computation);
    5. The team having scored the fastest goal in all games played;
    6. Flip of the coin.

    Example : 2 teams tied

    1. The most wins;
    2. The least losses;
    3. The results of game(s) between the team involved (win);
    4. The best differential : total goals FOR less total goals AGAINST, using all games played;
    5. The team having scored the fastest goal in all games played;
    6. Flip of the coin.

    Exemple : 3-4 teams tied

    1. The most wins;
    2. The least losses;
    3. The best differential : total goals FOR less total goals AGAINST, using all games played;
    4. The team having scored the fastest goal in all games;
    5. Flip of the coin.
  6. The ice will be resurfaced every second period during the qualifying, eight and quarter final rounds.
    The ice will be resurfaced before the first and after the second period during the semi-final and final. Should there be overtime at those games, the ice will be resurfaced after the first overtime period.
  7. Overtime

    The Hockey Quebec rule concerning overtime will be applied in this tournament because the article 9.7.4. stipulates that “during international and national tournaments for the AA and AAA teams, after three periods of play, the overtime periods will proceed as follow”:

    1. A maximum of two ten-minute stopped-time periods with four skaters and a goalkeeper per team, except in the case of penalties when the penalized players must serve their respective penalties, the first goal legally scored ends the game.
    2. Should the score still be tied after such maximum of two overtime ten-minute periods, the shootout procedure described at Article 9.7.2 of Hockey Québec administrative rules.
  8. Maximum players dressed

    Each team will be allowed to dress 20 players, 18 players plus two goaltenders.

Pepsi-Cola Conference AA

Rules

  1. Composed of 4 groups of 3 teams
  2. Each team will play 2 games in the qualifying round; one game against each team of their group.
  3. Duration of games

    1. Qualifying round: 1st and 2nd period of 15 minutes stop-time and 3rd period of 20 minutes stop-time (no overtime);
    2. Eight, quarter, semi and final rounds: 1st and 2nd period 15 minutes stop-time and 3rd period of 20 minutes stop-time. Should the score be tied after the first three periods, there will be overtime (10 minutes stop-time period) until the first goal is scored. There will be a three (3) minutes break (unless the ice is resurfaced as per rule number 6) between the third period and first overtime period and the teams do not return to their dressing rooms;
    3. At any point in the third period if a team leads by 7 goals or more the time will be running even if the lead is reduced to less than 7 goals, we will continue with running time (penalties remain at stop-time). This applies to all games (qualifying and elimination rounds);

    2. Teams finishing first in a group enter the quater-finals, teams finishing either 2nd or 3rd in a group will meet respectively the 3rd and 2nd place team of another group in the eight-finals.

    If more than two teams are tied, after having determined the standing of a team, we restart the process with the remaining tied teams (id, a, b, c...):
